Privacy Policy

Last updated 4 September 2026

This policy explains what personal information CelerCard collects when you visit our website or join our early-access list, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

In short

We collect only what you type into our early-access form: your first name, email address, phone number if you choose to give one, and your country. We use it for one purpose, which is to tell you when CelerCard is ready. We do not sell it, we do not advertise with it, and we set no cookies and run no analytics on this website. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

This summary is for convenience. The sections below govern.

1. Who we are

CelerCard is a financial technology service based in The Gambia. In this policy “we”, “us” and “our” mean CelerCard.

We are the controller of the personal information described here, meaning we decide why and how it is processed.

2. What this policy covers

This policy covers our website and our early-access waiting list.

CelerCard is in development. The service is not yet open, so we do not currently issue cards, hold funds, process payments or verify identity, and this policy does not describe those activities. We will publish an expanded policy covering them, and tell everyone on the waiting list, before the service opens.

3. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you join the early-access list we collect:

  • First name — so we can address you properly.
  • Email address — how we will contact you at launch.
  • Phone number — optional. You can leave it blank and still join.
  • Country — so we know which markets to open first.

We also record the date and time you joined.

Information collected automatically. Like any website, ours is delivered by infrastructure that keeps short-lived technical logs. These can include your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. They exist to deliver the site securely and to detect abuse, and we do not use them to build a profile of you.

What we never collect. We do not ask for and do not want passwords, card numbers, bank details, national identity numbers or any other sensitive financial information. Never send these to us. No genuine message from us will ever ask for them.

4. Why we use it, and our legal basis

We process your information for these purposes:

  • To notify you about CelerCard — including launch news and early-access invitations. Our basis is your consent, given when you submit the form.
  • To understand demand by market — counting interest by country so we can plan. Our basis is our legitimate interest in planning a service responsibly.
  • To keep the website secure — detecting and preventing abuse of our forms. Our basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the service.
  • To meet legal obligations — where a law requires us to retain or disclose information.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal effects, and we do not profile you.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

We share it only with the following categories of recipient, and only as far as necessary:

  • Infrastructure and hosting providers — who deliver our website and run the systems that receive your submission.
  • Business software and data storage providers — where our record of the waiting list is kept.
  • Communication providers — who deliver the emails we send you.
  • Professional advisers — such as lawyers or auditors, where they are bound by confidentiality.
  • Authorities — where we are required by law, court order or a lawful regulatory request.

These providers act on our instructions, are bound by contractual confidentiality and security obligations, and may not use your information for their own purposes. If our business is ever transferred to another party, your information may transfer with it, and this policy will continue to apply until you are told otherwise.

6. International transfers

We are based in The Gambia, but the providers described above operate globally. Your information may therefore be stored or processed in countries outside The Gambia, including in Europe and the United States, whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live.

Wherever your information goes, it remains subject to this policy. When we transfer information across borders we rely on appropriate safeguards, which may include standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, or a provider’s certification under a recognised transfer framework. You may ask us for details of the safeguards that apply to your information.

7. How long we keep it

We keep waiting-list information until whichever comes first:

  • you ask us to delete it;
  • you unsubscribe from our updates; or
  • twenty-four months after launch, or after we decide not to launch, if you have not become a customer.

Technical logs are kept for a short period only. Where a law requires us to keep something for longer, we keep it for that period and no more.

8. Your rights

We extend the following rights to everyone who contacts us, wherever you live, rather than only where a particular law compels it:

  • Access — ask whether we hold information about you and get a copy of it.
  • Correction — have inaccurate or incomplete information fixed.
  • Deletion — ask us to erase your information.
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting processing already carried out. Every email we send will include an unsubscribe link.
  • Object or restrict — object to processing based on our legitimate interests, or ask us to limit what we do with your information.
  • Portability — receive your information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Complain — to the data protection authority in The Gambia or in the country where you live.

To exercise any of these, email info@celercard.com. We will respond within thirty days. We do not charge for this, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

9. Cookies and tracking

This website sets no cookies. We run no analytics, no advertising pixels and no third-party tracking scripts, and we store nothing on your device.

For completeness: our typeface is loaded from a third-party font service, which necessarily receives your IP address in order to serve the file. It sets no cookie, and we receive no information back from it.

If we ever introduce analytics, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.

10. Security

Information you submit is transmitted over an encrypted connection and held in systems protected by access controls. The credentials our website uses to record your submission are held server-side and are never exposed to your browser.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your personal information and creates a real risk to you, we will tell you and the relevant authority without undue delay.

11. Children

Our website and waiting list are not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service develops. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change materially affects your rights — particularly when we begin offering financial services — we will notify everyone on the waiting list by email before it takes effect.

13. Contact us

For any privacy question, or to exercise a right above, contact info@celercard.com.
